Fritz Miller | Office Manager Print E-mail

Mr. Miller facilitates the Davenport Branch Office of Renaissance Restoration Incorporated. He is responsible for the restoration of the General Store/Ice House Building of the Annie Wittenmyer Complex. Mr. Miller has successfully adapted the Ice House into the Windows Department of Renaissance Restoration. The Davenport Branch Office performs under the direction of Mr. Miller in the areas of: site visitations; written reports; cost projections; record keeping; shop drawings; carpentry; window restoration; painting and research. Mr. Miller supervises in the field, manages projects, provides customer services, trains personnel, is responsible for purchases and office development.

Mr. Miller's many talents contributed to the completion of the following projects: The Pine Creek Grist Mill of Muscatine, Iowa; The German American Heritage Center of Davenport, Iowa; The Ranzow Building of Davenport Iowa; The Edgewater Beach Apartments of Chicago Illinois; The Century Woods Apartments of Rock Island, Illinois; The Old Capital of Iowa City, Iowa; The Watchtower Lodge, Blackhawk Historic Area of Rock Island, Illinois; The Cottages of the Annie Wittenmyer Complex and The Widow Clarke House of Chicago, Illinois.

Mr. Miller came to Renaissance Restoration after working as associate producer for thirty-nine episodes and three pledge specials of the National PBS television show "About Your House with Bob Yapp." Mr. Miller honed his crafts in the areas of: historical research; conceptual/final drawings for graphics; location and procurement of all photography and archival footage for shows and script writing process. Mr. Miller also appeared as an expert on historic windows for several of the episodes.

Prior to Mr. Miller's associate producer experiences, he was an estimator and draftsman for Midwest Architectural Wood Products, Ltd. For six years not only did Mr. Miller design custom made windows, he negotiated for terms and conditions in all contracts and produced for the company's displays for trade shows.

Fritz Miller began his career in construction with the Neighborhood Housing Service of Davenport in 1984. He supervised all phases of housing rehabilitation for the non-for-profit organization HUD. He produced work-write-ups, estimates, technical drawings, bid proposals, contracts and inspection documentation. His negotiation skills with contractors, homeowners and skilled tradesmen aided his efforts during consultations and provided basis needed in his community. Fritz was also responsible for organizing and implementing the Architectural Salvage Cooperative, the first in the country.
